Prenatal
When your baby is born, the amount of information you get in the hospital can feel like too much to handle. Attending a prenatal consultation with me can help you gain breastfeeding knowledge before your baby arrives. This session provides information that is tailored to you and your family, and can help you prepare for your baby’s nutritional needs in the first few hours and days.
Initial Check-In Consultation
During an initial lactation consultation, I gather a thorough maternal, infant, pregnancy, birth, and feeding history, assess both mother and baby, observe a feeding, evaluate latch and milk transfer, and address concerns such as nipple pain, low milk supply, poor weight gain, pumping, and supplementation. I also screen for postpartum depression and anxiety and offer treatment when appropriate. Families leave with a personalized feeding plan, practical education, and ongoing support to help them reach their breastfeeding goals.
Follow-Up & Beyond Infancy
These appointments are for clients who need ongoing support. While one visit can be very helpful, some issues require additional care. These appointments are also available for addressing new topics as they arise, such as returning to work, starting solid foods, pumping, and weaning.
